About CODDY Tool
What this is
CODDY Tool is a collection of 43 small utilities for jobs that come up constantly and do not deserve a software purchase: compressing a photo that is too big to email, pulling three pages out of a PDF, checking whether an essay hits its word count, formatting a JSON response so you can actually read it.
The tools are grouped into image tools, pdf tools, text tools, developer tools, calculator tools, url & web tools, color & design tools, security tools, seo tools and social media tools. More are added as we find jobs worth building for.
How it works
Almost every tool here runs entirely inside your browser. When you drop an image into the compressor, the file is read from your disk into your browser’s memory, processed with the same graphics and cryptography APIs that power any modern web application, and written back out as a download. It never travels over the network.
This is unusual. Most online tool sites upload your file, process it on a server and send back a result — which means your document sits on somebody else’s hardware, however briefly, and you have to trust a privacy policy about what happens to it next. Processing in the browser removes that question entirely. You can verify it yourself: open your browser’s network tab while using a tool and watch for the upload that never happens.
It has practical benefits too. There is no queue, no upload wait and no file size limit imposed by a server. Once a tool page has loaded, it keeps working even if your connection drops.
Where a tool genuinely cannot run locally, the page says so plainly, in the notice at the top. We never claim local processing for something that is not local.
How it is paid for
Advertising. That is the whole model. There is no premium tier, no subscription, no credit system, no account and no upsell — those things are not planned for later, they are deliberately not part of the design.
In return, we try to make the advertising as unobtrusive as advertising can be. Ads sit between content blocks rather than beside buttons, so an accidental tap is never an ad click. Every slot has reserved space so nothing shifts under your finger as the page loads. And ads never appear inside a tool’s controls.
Our privacy policy and cookie policy explain exactly what data is involved and what advertising partners can see.
What we will not do
- Require an account, an email address or a login to use a tool.
- Put a working feature behind a paywall.
- Watermark your output or degrade it to sell an upgrade.
- Store, inspect or train on the files and text you put into a tool.
- Publish pages that exist only to rank — every tool has to do a real job for a real person.
That last point, expanded
It is easy to inflate a tool site to five hundred pages by generating minor variations of the same utility. It is good for search traffic in the short term and useless to the people who land on those pages. We would rather have a hundred tools that each solve a real problem properly, with documentation that answers the question you actually arrived with.
If a tool here is missing an option you need, or gets something wrong, tell us — that feedback is what decides what gets built next.
