CODDY Tool

Cookie policy

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Related technologies — localStorage, session storage and pixel tags — do similar jobs and are covered by this policy too.

What this site stores itself

CODDY Tool sets no cookies of its own. It uses exactly one piece of browser storage:

NameTypePurposeDuration
coddy-themelocalStorageRemembers whether you chose the light, dark or system theme.Until you clear it

It holds one of three words. It contains no identifier, is never sent to our servers, and is not readable by any other site.

Third-party cookies

Advertising

This site is free because it carries advertising, supplied by Google AdSense. Depending on your location and your consent choices, it may set cookies or use similar technologies to:

  • Count how many times an ad has been shown to you.
  • Measure whether an ad led to a click or a conversion.
  • Detect fraudulent ad traffic.
  • Personalise which ads you see, where you have consented to that.

These cookies are set by the advertising provider, not by us. We cannot read them, and we never pass them any of the files or text you process — we do not have that content.

Analytics

We use aggregate analytics to see which tools are used, so we know what to improve. We favour privacy-conscious analytics that operate without cookies and without cross-site identifiers. Where a cookie-based analytics provider is used, it is treated as non-essential and requires consent in regions where consent is required.

Categories and consent

CategoryWhat it doesConsent needed?
Strictly necessarySecurity and basic delivery of the site. Includes your theme preference, which only works because you set it.No
AnalyticsAggregate counts of which tools are opened and completed.Yes, where local law requires it
AdvertisingAd delivery, frequency capping, measurement and — with consent — personalisation.Yes

Where consent is required — the EU, the UK, Switzerland and other regions with equivalent rules — a consent notice is shown before any non-essential cookie is set. We use Google’s certified consent platform, because Google requires a certified one for advertising in those regions and a hand-built banner would not satisfy that.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Privacy settings link in the footer, which reopens the same dialog. Withdrawing has to be as easy as consenting, so the link is permanent rather than a banner you see once.

How to control cookies

Your browser gives you the final say. Every major browser lets you block third-party cookies, delete stored cookies, or refuse them entirely, usually under Settings → Privacy.

Blocking cookies will not stop the tools working. Because processing happens in your browser, every tool on this site functions with all cookies blocked — the only thing you lose is that your theme preference will not be remembered between visits.

You can also opt out of personalised advertising through industry programmes such as the Digital Advertising Alliance’s YourAdChoices, the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance’s Your Online Choices, and the “Ad personalisation” settings offered by individual ad providers.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or an extension sends it, we request non-personalised ads before the first ad is loaded — you do not have to interact with anything for that to take effect.

The older Do Not Track header is not consistently supported across the advertising industry, so we recommend relying on GPC, your browser settings and the consent notice instead.

Changes

If our use of cookies changes, we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
