eDPI Calculator

Work out your eDPI, cm/360 and counts per full turn.

eDPI is DPI multiplied by in-game sensitivity, and it only compares players within the same game. This shows it alongside cm/360, which is the figure that actually travels.

About eDPI Calculator

eDPI — effective dots per inch — is simply your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. It exists because the two settings are interchangeable: 800 DPI at sensitivity 2 feels identical to 1600 DPI at sensitivity 1, and multiplying them collapses that into one number.

It is genuinely useful for comparing players in the same game, which is why professional player lists quote it. It is worth being clear about its limit though: eDPI is meaningless across games. An eDPI of 800 in Counter-Strike and 800 in Overwatch are completely different speeds, because each game applies its own constant before turning you.

cm/360 is shown alongside for exactly that reason. It measures the physical distance your hand moves for a full turn, so it means the same thing everywhere and is the figure to compare when the games differ.

How to work out your eDPI

  1. Find your mouse DPI

In your mouse software, or on the manufacturer's page. It is often 800 or 1600 by default.

  2. Find your in-game sensitivity

In the mouse or controls section of the game's settings.

  3. Read the numbers

eDPI for comparing within your game, and cm/360 for comparing with anyone else.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good eDPI?

It depends entirely on the game, which is part of why the figure is limited. In tactical shooters many professionals sit around 200–400; in faster games the equivalents are much higher. Comparing your cm/360 to players in your own game is more informative.

How do I calculate eDPI?

Multiply mouse DPI by in-game sensitivity. 800 DPI at 1.5 sensitivity is an eDPI of 1200.

Is a lower eDPI better?

No — it is a trade. Lower means more precision and slower turns, higher means the reverse. What matters more is picking something and staying with it long enough to build muscle memory.

Why is my eDPI different from a pro's with the same feel?

If you play different games, that is expected: eDPI does not translate. Compare cm/360 instead, which accounts for how each game scales sensitivity.
