About Mouse Sensitivity Converter

Two numbers get confused constantly, and only one of them travels between games.

eDPI is your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. It is a genuinely useful way to compare two players in the same game, and it is meaningless across games — because a sensitivity of 1 does not turn you the same amount in Valorant as it does in CS2. Each game multiplies your mouse counts by its own constant before deciding how far to rotate you.

cm/360 is how far the mouse physically moves across the desk to spin a full circle. It is measured in centimetres of desk, so it means exactly the same thing everywhere, and it is what your muscle memory has actually learned. Converting a setting properly means holding that distance fixed and solving for whatever slider value produces it in the new game.

The constant linking the two is the game's yaw — degrees turned per mouse count at sensitivity 1. Games built on the same engine share it, which is why Counter-Strike, Apex Legends and Team Fortress all use 0.022. Those values are measured by the community rather than published by developers, so they are very good approximations rather than official figures, and an in-game 360 test remains the ground truth.

How to convert your sensitivity

Choosing a sensitivity at all

  • There is no correct number, but there are clear tendencies: tactical shooters reward slower settings, arena shooters faster ones.
  • Most competitive players sit somewhere between 30 and 50 cm/360.
  • Below about 15 cm/360, precise aim gets genuinely hard — small hand tremors become large crosshair movements.
  • Above about 70 cm/360 you need the desk space to actually complete a turn. Check before committing.
  • Whatever you choose, changing it constantly is worse than a slightly wrong setting. Muscle memory needs weeks, not hours.

DPI and in-game sensitivity are interchangeable — mostly

800 DPI at sensitivity 2 and 1600 DPI at sensitivity 1 produce the same cm/360 and feel the same. Which you choose barely matters, with two caveats.

Very low DPI can make cursor movement visibly steppy, since the mouse simply reports fewer positions. And very high DPI on some sensors introduces smoothing or jitter. Somewhere between 800 and 1600 avoids both on essentially every modern mouse, which is why so many players sit there.

What is cm/360?

Why is my converted sensitivity such a different number?

Because each game turns you a different amount per mouse count. Valorant's constant is more than three times Counter-Strike's, so the same physical feel needs a much smaller number on the slider. The number changing is the conversion working, not failing.

Can I just match my eDPI between games?

No, and this is the most common mistake. eDPI only compares within one game. An eDPI of 800 in CS2 and 800 in Overwatch are completely different speeds, because the games scale sensitivity differently.

Should I change DPI or in-game sensitivity?

Mostly it does not matter — 800 DPI at 2 and 1600 at 1 feel identical. Avoid extremes: very low DPI can look steppy, and very high DPI can introduce sensor smoothing. Between 800 and 1600 is safe on any modern mouse.

How accurate are these conversions?

The maths is exact; the per-game constants are measured by the community rather than published, so they are very good approximations. If precision matters, do an in-game 360 test against a mark on your mousepad and adjust from there.
