About Split PDF

Splitting covers a family of related jobs: extracting the two pages of a fifty-page report that someone actually asked for, removing a page that should not be circulated, or breaking a scanned bundle into one file per document.

You can specify pages either visually — by picking them from a list of page numbers — or by typing a range expression like 1-3, 8, 12-15. Range syntax is much faster for long documents.

Two output modes are available. Extract produces a single PDF containing your chosen pages in order. Split into separate files produces one PDF per selected page, which is what you want when a scanner has bundled several unrelated documents together.

How to split a PDF

  1. Add your PDF

Drag the file in or tap Select File. The page count appears once it loads.

  2. Choose the pages

Click page numbers to select them, or type a range such as 1-3, 8, 12-15.

  3. Pick an output mode

Extract selected pages into one new PDF, or split them into one file per page.

  4. Download

Save the result. Your original document is never modified.

Page range syntax

  • 5 — a single page.
  • 2-7 — an inclusive range from page 2 to page 7.
  • 1, 4, 9 — several individual pages, comma separated.
  • 1-3, 10, 15-20 — any combination of ranges and single pages.

Removing pages instead of keeping them

There is no separate delete function, because extraction covers it. To drop page 5 from a 10-page document, extract 1-4, 6-10 — the result is your document without page 5.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The document is parsed and rewritten in your browser, so confidential files never leave your device.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied intact rather than re-rendered, so text remains selectable and searchable and images keep their original resolution.

How do I delete pages from a PDF?

Extract the pages you want to keep. To remove page 5 of a 10-page file, enter 1-4, 6-10 and extract — the output is the original minus that page.

Can I split a scanned document into individual files?

Yes. Choose split into separate files and every selected page becomes its own PDF, which is ideal for a scanner that has bundled several documents into one file.

What is the maximum file size?

100 MB. Large documents take longer because the whole file is held in browser memory; on an older phone a very large PDF may be slow or run out of memory.
