About PDF to JPG

Turning PDF pages into images is what you do when the destination cannot handle a PDF. Social platforms want images. Slide decks embed pictures far more reliably than documents. Website content management systems often accept only images inline. And an image is the simplest way to show one page of a document to someone without sending the whole file.

Each page is rendered at the resolution you choose. Higher DPI produces sharper text and larger files; 150 DPI is fine for reading on screen, 300 DPI matches print quality.

Rendering happens with a full PDF engine running in your browser, so fonts, vector graphics and embedded images all come out exactly as your PDF reader would draw them.

How to convert a PDF to JPG

  1. Add your PDF

Drag the file in or tap Select File. Page thumbnails appear once it loads.

  2. Choose resolution and quality

150 DPI suits screens, 300 DPI suits printing. Adjust JPEG quality to trade sharpness against file size.

  3. Select pages

Convert the whole document, or pick just the pages you need.

  4. Convert and download

Press Convert, then save images one by one or download them all.

Choosing a resolution

  • 72 DPI — small previews and thumbnails.
  • 150 DPI — reading on screen; text is comfortably legible.
  • 300 DPI — print quality, and the right choice if the image will be enlarged.
  • 600 DPI — archival scans and fine detail; expect very large files.

JPG or PNG?

JPG is the better choice for pages that are mostly photographs or scans — the files are far smaller and the artefacts are hidden by the image content.

PNG is better for pages of text, charts and line art, because JPEG compression produces visible halos around sharp black-on-white edges. This tool can export either format.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to convert it?

No. The PDF rendering engine runs inside your browser, so pages are drawn on your own device and no data is transmitted.

Can I convert only certain pages?

Yes. Select exactly the pages you want before converting — useful for large documents where you only need a couple of pages.

Why is the text slightly soft?

A PDF stores text as vectors that stay sharp at any zoom; a JPG is a fixed grid of pixels. At low DPI the text has to be approximated. Raise the resolution to 300 DPI or higher and the softness disappears.

Can I get PNG instead of JPG?

Yes, PNG is available as an output format. Choose it for pages dominated by text or diagrams, where JPEG artefacts around sharp edges would be visible.

How large a PDF can I convert?

Up to 100 MB. Rendering many pages at high DPI is memory-intensive, so on a phone it is best to convert a selection of pages rather than a long document at 600 DPI.

Will the converted images be searchable?

No. An image contains no text layer, so the words in it cannot be searched or selected. If you need searchable output, keep the PDF or use Split PDF to extract pages as PDFs.
